Retreats & Workshops

Retreats and workshops, in the painters' light.

Yoga weeks, photography workshops, small painting retreats — the four bungalow rooms or the whole estate, with the pool and gardens as the space between sessions.

For groups

A house for a group with a purpose.

Retreats work here because the estate is already arranged for them. The Bungalow's four rooms each have their own door and terrace, so people have privacy between sessions; the gardens, the covered terrace and the twenty-metre heated pool are the shared ground where the group comes back together. Take the four rooms, or add Maison Braque — a self-contained two-bedroom apartment with its own kitchen — for a facilitator, a chef or a couple who want their own front door.

Then there is the light. Matisse, Chagall, Léger and Soutine all worked within a few kilometres of the door, and the Fondation Maeght and the village are five minutes away — a painting week or a photography workshop has its subject matter waiting outside.

Well suited to

What groups come here for.

Yoga & movement retreats

Morning practice on the lawn or the terrace, the pool between sessions, and rooms that give everyone their own quiet at the end of the day.

Photography workshops

The medieval village, the hill towns of Vence and Tourrettes-sur-Loup, the coast and the light — a working studio within a few minutes' drive.

Painting & art weeks

The Fondation Maeght, the Matisse chapel and the Léger museum as the curriculum; the loggia and gardens as the studio.

The Bungalow

Four ensuite rooms, sleeping nine, each with a private terrace. Bookable as one — the natural size for a small retreat.

The whole estate

Add Maison Braque for up to a dozen or so, with a kitchen for the group and a separate space for whoever is leading.

Practicalities

Parking for ten cars, Nice airport fifteen minutes away, shops and the Polygone Riviera centre five minutes down the hill.

Group stays are quoted according to the season, the length of the stay and which buildings you take. The main house stays the owners' private residence.

Good to know

The practical questions.

How many can a retreat sleep?

Nine in the Bungalow (three rooms of two, and Chambre Soutine with three single beds), or around a dozen with Maison Braque added.

Is there a space for practice or teaching?

The lawn, the covered terrace and the arched loggia are the natural spaces. Tell us the size of your group and what you need and we'll say honestly what works.

Is there a kitchen for the group?

Maison Braque has its own kitchen. The bungalow rooms do not — groups who want to cook for everyone usually take the whole estate.

Can we book a single week or longer?

Both. Longer stays and shoulder-season dates are the easiest to arrange.
